3M Yaba pills and hundreds of guns seized down South.

3 million Yaba pills and hundreds of guns have been seized in a drug case in the Southern region of Thailand. The seize is worth over 80 Million THB. Police General Sompong Chingduang along with related officials reported the results of a mission that took place on 27-29 September 2023. The mission led to the arrest of multiple suspects that are members of drug gangs. The mission follows government policy that focuses on improving the drug situation. 22 target provinces were searched with information on 767 drug gangs. In total, officials searched over 1,535 locations. 3,143 cases with 3,212 suspects, out of the number 123 suspects had arrest warrants out in their name.

 

 

Police were able to seize 3.3 million Yaba pills, 207 grams of heroin, 8.5 grams of crystal meth, 55 grams of ketamine, and 173 guns. The seized items are worth 13 million THB which led to 66 million THB worth of related assets. In total, the seized assets are worth over 80 million THB. All suspects were delivered to the related police stations for prosecution. Police General Sompong stated “I have given orders for officials to put pressure on local drug sellers. This has led to fewer drug exchanges in villages. It is harder for drug users to find drug sources which will lead to less drug use”.

 

 

The report on the mission took place on 30 September 2023 at 11.30 am at the Royal Thai Police Operations Center in Yala Province. This was also the same day that the general was working before officially retiring. He ended his time as police with an impressive mission. The drugs and weapons are seized from cases in Southern Thailand. They are related to and are from drug groups down south. Hopefully the increased pressure on drug gangs will help improve the current drug situation in Thailand.
