A close shave with death
ROAD accidents are making headlines as a large number of people travel across the country to celebrate the New Year with their families, the Thai-language Daily News reported today (Dec. 28).
In the northeastern Thai province of Chaiyaphum, 14 passengers miraculously escaped death when a van in which they were travelling flipped over and landed on a divider in the middle of the highway.
“I was talking to a friend on my mobile phone when I heard the passengers screaming. The van flipped over and landed on its side in the middle of the highway,” 23-year-old Ritdej Wantong told the newspaper.
“It was a miracle that no one was seriously hurt,” he said. “We were all shaken but happy to survive this frightening experience.”
