Good news for durian lovers
THIS year’s harvest of durian in the southeastern Thai province of Chanthaburi is likely to be 290,000 tons, a slight increase from last year, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported today (March 21).
Chief provincial agriculture officer Piya Samakpong said the first crop was sent to the market in late February. He advised durian lovers to visit the plantations during April-May, which is the peak of the harvest season.
In addition to durian, visitors can visit rambutan and mangosteen plantations in the province, which is also known for its beautiful beaches.
