Interpol asks for more data to issue Blue Notice for Yingluck
INTERPOL has agreed to issue a Blue Notice to track down fugitive former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra but has asked for additional information in stating the case, Thai News Agency said today (Oct. 11)
Pol. Col. Krissana Phattnacharoen, deputy spokesman of the Royal Thai Police, said progress had been made in tracking down Ms Yingluck who escaped overseas before a scheduled court judgment in a criminal negligence trial over her rice-pledging scheme towards the end of August and was found guilty and sentenced in absentia to five years in prison last month by Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Political Office Holders.
Thai police had sent the arrest warrant for Ms Yingluck and information on tracking her down to Interpol so that it issues either a Blue or Red Notice to bring her back to face legal action and Interpol has cooperated and is willing to issue the Blue Notice to follow her and find out her current residence.
Interpol has liaised with police in 192 countries across the world about this case including UK but as yet cannot say which country she is in.
According to Interpol.net a Blue Notice is for collecting additional information about a person’s identity, location or activities in relation to a crime.
Pol. Col. Krissana added that Thai police uses the same standard for all cases and there is no respite in chasing Ms Yingluck nor would they be giving her any form of help.
