Net idols face gambling promotion charges

SIX of 16 net idols and models wanted on the charges of advertising or inviting people to gamble showed up at Phaya Thai police station today (June 19, 2018) to hear the charges, INN News reported.

Meeting Deputy Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol Maj Gen Phanurat Lukboon and Pol Col Theerachai Chamnaimorn were Miss Jessie Ward, 19, Miss Saitharn or Nong Nay, 20, Miss Thanyakarn or Mayya, 23, Miss Pharadee or Baimin Sexy Angle, 21, and Miss Nirda or Namtharn Sexy Angle, 25, with the sixth suspect unidentified.

Maj Gen Phanurat said the net idols were summoned after it was discovered that they were promoting online gambling.

All the 6 net idols have confessed to committing an offense under the Gambling Act’s Section 12 by advertising or inviting people to gamble with the penalty being 1 year jail term suspended to 1 month and 1,000 baht fine.

Pol Maj Gen Phanurat added that the special center to crack down on gambling has from May 2, 2018 till June 18, 2018 arrested 8 football gambling organizers, 1,042 gamblers and 3 runners.

The center also arrested 22 online gambling organizers, 9 online gamblers while seizing 100,000 baht as well as bank accounts worth over 30 million baht.
