Pheu Thai not worried about defection

AN influential member of the Pheu Thai Party said today (June 28, 2018) that he is not worried about members who have defected to join a new party to contest the next general election, the Thai-language Matichon reported.

The 58 defectors are all in the northeastern region, which has the largest number of members of parliament.

“Our remaining northeastern MPs have kept in close touch with their supporters and we are not worried,” said Pheu Thai senior member Prayut Siripanich.

The newly-formed Pracharat Party is reportedly backed by former Pheu Thai finance minister Somkit Jatusripitak, who is now in the current government.
