Rains across the country till May 7

(INN and Matichon) – Summer storms will spread rain across the country until May 7 including Bangkok and neighboring provinces where there will be scattered showers and possibly raining in the morning and then again in the evening, Wanchai Sakudomchai, Director-General of the Thai  Meteorological Department told INN  this morning.

However Mr Wanchai rebutted rumors that hail will be falling Bangkok, saying it will most likely hail in the Northeast, the North and some parts of the East.

Bangkok rain one (2)Most of the upper northern part of the country will be facing heavy rain until May 7.

The department will be issuing weather warnings continuously till May 7 after which there will still be rain in some areas but the temperature will rise again.

The highest temperature this year occurred on May 3 in Tak’s Muang  District where it reached 42.2 degrees Celcius.

Meanwhile Matichon quoted the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority’s Flood Control Center as saying that at 2.30 a.m. this morning light to medium level rain spread lengthwise along Chao Phraya river banks onto  lower part of Thonburi and Samut Prakarn.

The rain storms then turned westwards and covered all of Thonburi and the downpours turned medium to heavy. By 8 a.m. there were scattered showers across Bangkok.

The Flood Control Center rushed to drain out floodwaters in many areas for example Jomthong Road from Soi 10 till Soi  Thaharn it was 5 to 10 centimeters high at 5 .30 a.m. and Petchkasem road opposite Bang Khae market it was 15 to 20 centimeters high at 8.10 a.m.
