Red flag raised on Samui beach

HOTEL operators along Chaweng Beach on the tourist island of Samui in Surat Thani Province hoisted red flags in front of their properties this morning (Nov. 1) to warn their guests and tourists not to swim there, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported.

Stormy weather has caused strong tidal waves along the popular tourist beach since early this morning, and some of the guests chose to swim in the pools.

The local weathermen had earlier informed all hotel operators to keep an eye on tourists who may not be aware of the danger swimming in the rough seas.
