Satun now a sizzling tourist destination
AFTER four districts of southern Satun province were declared a UNESCO Global Geopark earlier this month, this area has suddenly started attracting a lot of attention from both Thai and foreign tourists, INN News reported last week.
Of the 4 districts, Thung Wa, Mueang, Manang and La-ngu, it is off La-ngu that an important landmark, “Prasat Hin Pun Yod” or “Thousand Spire Stone Castle” limestone sinkhole is located.
Droves of tourists, both Thais and foreigners particularly from Malaysia, China and UK, have started coming here to enjoy the beauty and kayak around.
During their trip to this southern province INN News reporters got a good welcome from Mr Nasarun Hongsaman, 27, a guide at Baan Bor Ched Look community. He said the Prasart Hin Pun Yod is over 2 kilometers from shore and is reachable by long-tail boat.
A trip there including a seafood meal and drinks costs 800 to 1,200 baht a person.
Since recognition by UNESCO this attraction has turned into a top-hit location to take photos and post on social media, he added.
Satun provincial authorities are also coming to Bangkok to join Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha in a ceremony to receive an official certificate from UNESCO at Government House tomorrow May 1, 2018. The Prime Minister will be handing over the certificate to Satun governor afterwards.
