45 rounded up in Pattaya’s ‘no prostitution’ drive

PATTAYA police got tough on blatant prostitution on the resort’s beach and rounded 45 women and transvestites in a big sweep yesterday, Sanook.com reported today (Sept 22, 2018).

Pol Col Apichai Krubpetch, head of Pattaya station, ordered Pol Lt-Col Netithorn Ratnasuchanand, a crime suppression inspector, to launch a crackdown on both prostitution and all types of crime that might harm tourists.

This arose after tourists and foreign media have been sharing photos and videos of groups of women and transvestites standing in groups on Pattaya beach and blatantly offering various services, which caused a lot of damage to the this popular seaside city.

Police had spread out and rounded up the 45 women and transvestites who were behaving suspiciously and have kept their records and fined them.

Pattaya police will continue to be strict in wiping out prostitution on its key beach to create a good image of the tourist city.
