PUBLIC Health officials, police and soldiers in Chiang Mai raided a house and arrested a woman who is an agent selling birth control pills claimed to help enhance breasts and improve complexion, Thai Channel 8 reported today (Dec. 8).
The team arrested Miss Miss Thanida Phuangmalai, 24, and seized 80,000 hormonal contraceptive pills worth 700,000 baht from her husband’s house in Muang district of this northern city.
Police investigation had revealed that the suspect sold these hormonal contraceptive pills via Facebook, and advertised that it would enhance breasts, clear acne, make the skin fairer, and improve the figure.
The suspect offered to mail the medicine all over Chiang Mai and across the nation at 180 baht a box, with those buying a large amount getting a free gold ring.
A Public Health pharmacist warned that taking hormonal contraceptive pills leads to an adjustment of the body’s hormonal level, and this should not be done without a doctor’s or pharmacist’s advice, with there are risks involved such as allergic reactions, heavy bleeding, melasma and cancer.
