Australian held at airport with smuggled iPhone 8s

A 38-year-old Australian man was arrested by Thai customs officials at Suvarnabhumi International Airport early this morning and charged with smuggling 26 iPhone 8s worth nearly one million baht into the country, Sanook.com reported today (Sept. 24).

The suspect said he bought the mobile phones in Australia for a friend, who would resell them in Singapore. He said he did not know that he must declare the items to Thai Customs officials.

The Thai government is expected to approve the import of iPhone 8s into the country in November, according to Sanook.com.
