Dangerous weather forces fishermen to stay ashore

LARGE fishing boats remained moored at a southern Phang Nga province pier this morning (Aug. 2, 2018) because the Andaman Sea is dangerously rough right now, INN News reported.

With the southwesterly monsoon currently covering the whole Andaman Sea, the winds and waves were very strong along the coast of  this province’s Thai Mueang district where Thap Lamu pier is located.

This pier was very quiet this morning because fishermen heeded official weather warning to stay ashore.

According to Thailandliveaboards.com, Thap Lamu pier is the main pier for boats going to the Similan Islands. It is not the only pier near Khao Lak but it is the one that most liveaboard dive boats, day trip dive boats and snorkeling speedboats to the Similan Islands depart from.
