Fire guts Klong Toey shophouses
AROUND 4 to 5 shophouses at Manothai market in Klong Toey district were either party or fully destroyed in a fierce blaze this morning (March 28), INN News reported.
Many fire engines came in to help fight the fire and while the firemen have been able to control it somewhat, they are still spraying water to prevent it from flaring up again.
They are also doing their best to dissipate thick black smoke which covered the whole area.
An initial check done by just looking around shows 2 to 3 shophouses were destroyed at the ground-floor level while the upper floor of 4 to 5 of them have been razed.
It is as yet not clear what started the fire and exactly where it did so.
Thong Lor police revealed that there was no one in these shophouses when the fire erupted and that is why there were no fatalities or injuries.
Nevertheless tenants renting these shophouses have already reached the site.
