Fire guts monks’ quarters at Ayutthaya temple

A FIRE broke out at a Thai-style monks’ quarters within Wat Roirai in Ayutthaya province early this morning and firemen took over two hours to put it out with damage being over 40 million baht, INN News said today (August 18).

The fire, which broke out at 4.30 am, spread quickly within the five-year-old teak-wood monks’ quarters at this temple which is located at Tha Chang subdistrict of Nakhon Luang district but fortunately there were no injuries.

Everything within the quarters was destroyed except for a big Buddha image.
