Free ride to newly-opened station the whole of this year

PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha opened an additional BTS Skytrain run from Bearing to Samrong station this morning with passengers allowed to travel free on this small stretch throughout this year with the whole nine-station extension to open next year, Bectero.com’s Morning News said today (April 3).

General Prayut accompanied by Interior Minister General Anupong Paochinda, Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapa,  Bangkok Governor Pol Gen Asawin Kwanmuang, Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) Governor Peerayudh Singpatanakul and other officials presided over the opening of the new one-station run and checked the ticketing area at the new station while also seeing an exhibition of this extension there.

Initially Bangkok Governor Asawin announced a one-month free ride from Bearing to Samrong station but Prime Minister Prayut convinced him to extend this for the whole of this year.

This is part of BTS’s southern green line extension which links to Bearing station and has altogether nine station with these being  Samong, Pu Chao Saming Phrai,  Erawan, Royal Thai Navy Academy, Pak Nam, Srinakarin, Praek Sa, Sai Luad, and Samut Prakarn housing estate.

Total investment is 27,673 million baht and the whole extension is to open 2018.
