Freshy initiation rites draw ire – ThaiResidents.com

SENIOR students of Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University in northeastern Thailand made a public apology this morning (July 17) after leaked photos of unusual initiation rites were made public, Sanook.com reported.

“Many parents were shocked by leaked photos showing senior students forcing freshies to eat what looked like human feces,” said the public statement. “This was not the case. What they ate was boiled pumpkin mixed with fermented fish, tomato and raw vegetables, which had been cleaned.”

“We understand the public outrage against the activities. We apologize and ready to accept the consequences of our actions,” it said, adding: “From now on, senior students will abandon the old way. We will join hands with freshies to do public services as part of the initiation activities.”
