Industrial waste dumped in rice field

WATTANANAKORN district police in Sa Kaeo Province are looking for a truck driver who has been dumping industrial waste into a pond in the middle of a rice field owned by a private investor, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported today (June 13, 2018).

“I have seen the truck entering the rice field from time to time. I sneaked in and saw electronic pieces in the pond,” a local farmer told police investigators.

The dump site is about 100 meters from the wall of a Buddhist temple and monks are concerned that the industrial garbage may contaminate their artesian well.
