‘Little Switzerland’ of Thailand

DOI Inthanon Mountain in the northern Thai province of Chiang Mai is well known among Thai and foreign trekkers. With the recent addition of a flock of sheep, non-adventurous visitors have descended on the peak to snap photos with the cute animals.

Many liken the place to the mountains in Switzerland, where the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great grew up. Thousands of Thai tourists visit the place in the cool season, when the trees are in full bloom, Sanook.com reported today (Aug 9).

If you drive from Chiang Mai City, turn left at kilometer marker 32. A further seven-kilometer drive take visitors to Doi Patang peak, where they can admire the beautiful scenery and inhale the fresh clean air.
