Married couple held for drug trafficking

A 49-year-old man and his 48-year-old wife were arrested in the northern Thai province of Chiang Mai yesterday (August 20, 2019) and charged with drug trafficking, the Thai-language daily Khao Sod reported.

Acting on a tip-off, narcotic suppression officers swooped on a noodle shop on the outskirts of the city and found one million methamphetamine pills and 10 kilograms of “ice” (crystal meths) hidden behind the shop and in two cars belonging to the couple.

The wife said that she received 100,000 baht for hiding the drugs in her shop. She said her husband knew nothing about it.
