Phone signals save lost mushroom picker

A 23-year-old mushroom picker was rescued today (Oct. 22) after spending a night alone on a mountain in the northern Thai province of Tak, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported.

Mr Patawee Panya-ngam lost his way while looking for wild mushrooms on Saturday (Oct. 21). He decided to walk up to the highest peak and spent a night there.

This morning, his phone signals were picked up by the provincial rescue team, who rushed to the mountain and brought him home.

“I would like to thank the rescuers for saving my life,” he told the media. “And without my mobile phone, my life would have been in jeopardy.”
