Most of the cars seen are public transportation vans, buses, taxis, the BTS, and the MRT. Even on Ladprao intersection, one of the worst areas where traffic can last for hours, there are hardly any cars. This includes the Ramkhamhaeng road where there is construction for the Skytrain that has slowed traffic down on the road in 2018, cars can now drive past the road with a breeze.

For those residing in Bangkok for the New Year, even though it seems to be a good idea to drive around in Bangkok during this time of the year, remember the speed limit on each road as the road law still applies. Also, the dangers of drunk drivers during the holiday period is at a high this year, always watch the cars around you and drive consciously to avoid any accidents that cannot be foreseen.

Chokchai Chadum 60 years old is a local taxi driver in Bangkok. He revealed to INN News that he has decided to stay and work in Bangkok for the New Year. He prefers to avoid the traffic that awaits citizens exiting Bangkok. Furthermore, Chokchai earns double income with double the normal amount of passengers compared to normal days, thanks to the empty roads free from Bangkok traffic.

Chokchai expects the roads to remain this way for only about 3 days, he commented that there are so many construction sites on the roads and a lack of proper public transportation to fulfill the requirements of Bangkok residents. This makes many choose to purchase their own personal cars, only causing more traffic on the roads. Bangkok will not lose its fame being known for the worst traffic in the world any time soon.
