Teacher crosses collapsed road caused by Podul Storm

Teachers in Mukdahan Province chose to cross a collapsed road on 2 September 209 after the Podul Tropical Storm hit Thailand to teach their students at school. The collapsed road was caused by road subsidence leaving a huge hole deep into the ground making it impossible for vehicles or people to cross over.

The story was shared by Facebook User named Chayutra D-duangpun-DD. She posted a picture of a local road in Mukdahan that was damaged from the effects of Podul Tropical Storm. In the pictures, it can be seen that there is at least 5 meters gap between each side of the road. The only way to cross over is by climbing into the hole and climbing out onto the other side.

Local teachers were stuck on the other side, but they didn’t let that stop them from going to teach the children at the school. One of the teachers is seen wearing a skirt with a bucket of sticky rice, a bag of teaching equipment and one hand holding her shoes as she climbs into the hole. Chayutra happened to be around the area and what she saw made her extremely proud for the children. She decided to snap a few pictures and shared it online.

The Thai Meteorological Department issued warnings for Citizens in risky areas to beware of the Podul Tropical Storm 5 days ago (29 August 2019). The storm is a category 3 storm bringing heavy rain and extremely strong winds damaging homes in heavily affected areas. Out of all the sad news that followed the storm, it is good to know that some people still fight to carry on with their life as best as they can.
