Thaksin’s ex-security aide gets early retirement

A FORMER head of security for former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been allowed to take early retirement from the national police force, Sanook.com reported today (Oct 1).

Pol Maj-Gen Attakit Tareechat was one of 475 policemen granted early retirement by the Royal Thai Police Office. During his heyday, Mr Attakit was in charge of the National Lottery Office (NLO), a position aspired by many public office holders.

Pol Maj-Gen Attakit resigned from the NLO after a 2014 coup against Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who is Thaksin’s younger sister.
