Tracking device for Thai offenders?

THAILAND’S Department of Probation (DoP) is considering using an electronic monitoring device that can be worn by a person to determine his future behavior.

Speaking at a press conference in Bangkok today (April 20), DoP Director-General Narat Sawettanan said the measure  will initially apply to people who are barred from entering or leaving certain places at certain time.

He said 3,000 devices will be purchased for convicts in Bangkok and some provinces on a trial basis.

The offender on probation will wear the device at the angle. They are subjected to a curfew and barred from entering certain places, said Mr Narat.
