Hunt on for those who spread misleading photo

POLICE are hunting for people who spread a misleading photo and caption about a building which is being built in Ploenchit area falsely saying it is leaning and could collapse with this triggering panic among residents, Thai  News Agency said this morning (August 16).

Metropolitan Police Bureau Chief Pol.Lt.Gen Sanit Mahathavorn ordered division 5 to investigate the source of the photo and caption because this alarmed and frightened people living in this area which is under Lumpini Police Station jurisdiction.

The perpetrators will be charged with spreading false information online leading to public panic under Computer Crime Act, Section 14 (2) with this carrying a penalty of five years in jail or 100,000 baht fine or both.
