PTT opening hotels at filling stations

OVER the next few years a completely new feature will appear on the Thai landscape with this being hotels at petrol pumps.

PTT Plc has decided to offer travelers the choice of staying at their small budget hotels which will be built at 50 filling stations within five years. These hotels will have less than 70 rooms each.

The state-owned listed oil and gas company’s senior executive vice president Auttapol Rerkpiboon said his company decided to venture into hotel business because it has filling stations across Thailand and some are in very good locations with strong future potential such as prime stretches of highways and main roads.

Some of these petrol pumps are very large and already have restaurants, coffee shops, 24-hour convenience stores among other retail outlets.
