British Airways cancels flights to Cairo
British Airways announced on Saturday (July 20, 2019) that flights to Cairo were being canceled for seven days “as a precaution to allow for further assessment.” The announcement came as the UK Foreign Office warned citizens traveling to Egypt of a “heightened risk of terrorism against aviation,” Sanook.com reported.
“There’s a heightened risk of terrorism against aviation. Additional security measures are in place for flights departing from Egypt to the UK,” the British Foreign Office said in its updated travel advisory.
The Foreign Office also issued a warning to British citizens planning to fly to Egypt to avoid places where a lot of people are gathering. In 2018, 415,000 British citizens travelled to Egypt.
