Car goes up in flames while driving back home.
A University Student was driving back home when his car goes up in flames. Police Lieutenant Naris Manop from the Bang Khen Police Station in Bangkok was notified of a car on fire at 00.30 on 21 December 2019. The car was driving on Ramintra Road heading to Bang Khen Circle. Officials went to investigate the car with the firefighters from the Bang Khen Fire Station and the local rescue team.
Officials arrived in front of Ramintra 10 and saw a white Honda Civic burning parked on the right lane. The source of the fire was coming out from the front engine and was spreading quickly into other parts of the car. Firefighters finally calmed down the flames after 20 minutes, but the fire had already caused heavy damage to the car. Kittipan Siritananrom 24 years old the owner of the car stated that he was driving home from finals at the university. The car was stuck in traffic on Ramintra Road when suddenly smoke started to come out of the hood. He put the car in park before coming out to see what was happening. Kittipan tried to pour water as flames started to come out of the engine.
At the same time a taxi drove by and the driver shouted to Kittipan telling him to run away from the vehicle because the car could blow up from the fire. The owner stated that the car is only 2 years old. It has never been customized and has always gone through regular checkups. It cause of the fire is still unknown. The victim was lucky that the good taxi driver reminded him of what could’ve happened as at the time, as the owner of the car he might have been too worried about his vehicle than for his own safety.
Kittipan revealed that he was minutes away from arriving at home before the car caught on fire, it was truly unexpected. Officials will be investigating to find the true cause of the fire. Hopefully, Honda will find out what are the risks that lead to the fire that can help prevent incidents like this from happening again to other vehicles in the future.
