43 road deaths as long holiday begins

Road accidents have killed 43 people with 466 people injured as the long New Year holiday begins yesterday (Dec 28, 2019), the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported this afternoon.

Drunk driving is the No.1 cause of road deaths, with 80 percent of the people killed being motorcyclists, according to the paper.

Nearly 40 percent of these accidents took place on national highways, with 30 percent on local roads.
