Arrest warrants out for Serbian theft suspects

POLICE are hunting for 2 Serbian nationals after the Chiang Mai Court approved warrants to arrest them on attempted theft charges, Sanook.com reported this afternoon (July 26, 2018)

Pol Lt-Col Charnchai Changwang, an investigator at Chang Phueak station in Mueang district of this northern city, said the 2 Serbs, Nennart Sakochid and Laph Niklid (names translated as written in Thai), are charged with trying to cut open a Bangkok Bank ATM  on June 28, 2018.

They used a cooking gas cylinder to fuel the gas torch they used to try to prize open this ATM, located next to Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, that night.

Despite working until the gas cylinder had finished, they failed to cut the thick metal casing of this ATM, after which they escaped in a car.

Pol Lt-Col Charnchai added that police had gathered sufficient evidence against the suspects, with the car they used being a rented one and was parked near the crime scene. There are also eyewitnesses who saw the suspects carrying the gas cylinder to this car.
