Chicken farm burns down, damages exceeding 400K THB.

A fire killed over 6,000 chicks at a chicken farm in Surat Thani Province. The owner now needs help as half of his chicks are dead amounting to over 400,000 THB in damages. The chicks are 6 days old and many of the equipment has also been burned down. The fire is likely an electrical fire that took place at 22.00 on 23 January 2021. The farm is Sanong Chicken Farm located in Huay Thun Village, Kanchanadit District. Local officials are teaming up to find a solution to help the chicken farm owner. 

 

 

Wichanut Jinto the governor of Surat Thani province along with Jamnong Sawatwong from the province Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, and Decha Jitpirom from the province Department of Livestock Development went to visit the farm on 24 January 2021. Together officials helped evaluate the fire damage and to give encouragement to the chicken farm owner. Sanong Liamkonglang the owner revealed he had 12,500 chicks on his farm, all 6 days old. Out of this number over 6,000 chicks were killed in the fire. Equipment used to take care of the poultry has also been partially burned down. 

 

 

The Surat Thani Governor has ordered the local Department of Livestock and related officials to help Sanong and his farm recover from the incident. The officials will come up with a recovery plan to help the farm owner get back on his feet and hopefully rebuild his farm soon. They also will be coming up with new safety regulations and practice guidelines to help protect against similar fires in the future.
