Court dismisses case against Chamlong and Sondhi

THE Criminal Court today (July 20, 2017) dismissed the case against former Bangkok governor Chamlong Srimuang and journalist Sondhi Limthongkul for their alleged involvement in a mass protest against the Samak Sundaravej government in 2008, INN News reported.

The court ruled that the two defendants had already been sentenced to two years in jail for encroaching on Government House during the protest. The prosecutor, therefore, had no authority to charge them again.

Three other protest leaders were found guilty of inciting disturbance in the country, but were given a two-year stay of sentencing.
