Dirty tap water affects over 100 homes in Buriram Province.

Villagers in Nang Rong District, Buriram Province have been dealing with dirty tap water. The water is almost black and is not safe to use. The problem has continued for a long time and it started with the water being dirty for only a minute. Then it would turn clear as usual afterward. Now the water is almost black no matter how long villagers leave their tap on. Villagers in Nong Ri Village complained to Khaosod on 24 March 2023 about the problem. Tap water in Nang Rong has been so dirty and related sectors have not repaired the issue.

The Khaosod News Team went to the area and discovered over 100 households were dealing with dirty tap water. The water is dark brown and there are particles floating through it. You cannot see through the water and it is clearly not safe to use. Locals state that they have been dealing with this problem for a long time. The dirty water usually disappears for a while and comes back. Jatuporn Duangjan 25 years old a villager stated the water was clear before she left for work. She left the water on to fill a tub but by the time she arrived home, all of the water was dirty.

Jatuporn’s dad informed her that the water has been dirty since 8 am. He left it running trusting it would turn clear. The family does not know when they will have clean water to use. Sawat Duangjan 52 years old stated usually after there is dirty water, the water works officials will come to repair it. Then after every repair, the water would turn clear after it is left on for 1 minute. Today he left it on from morning to sunset but it only turned darker. The villager wants to know if he will be charged for the dirty water that is unsafe to use. Hopefully, related officials take care of the problem permanently as safe water should be accessible to everyone.
