Dozing tour bus driver smashes into parked truck

MANY people traveling from adjacent Chonburi province to pray at a temple in lower north Uthai Thani province got injured after the tour bus driver dozed off and slammed hard at a parked 18-wheel truck this morning (Oct 11, 2018), Sanook.com reported.

At 5.30 a.m. Pol Capt Manop Buaonn, deputy inspector for investigation at Wang Noi police station in adjoining Ayutthaya province, rushed to the scene of the accident on Phahonyothin road in front of Chang Beer factory and quickly called ambulances and rescuers to take the injured tourists to the hospital.

The badly-smashed white tour bus was stuck to the rear of the parked truck.

Mr Apichart Upathm, 44, the bus driver told police that prior to the accident he had picked up the tourists from Chonburi to take them to pray at Wat  Tha Sung in Uthai Thani.

Just as he exited the Motorway and got on to Phaholyothin road inbound to Bangkok, he dozed off, causing the vehicle to slam hard at the rear of the parked truck.

Police have taken him in for legal action on the charges of reckless driving leading to many people getting injured.
