Fake fertilizer sellers arrested

A fake fertilizer gang had been going around the Kalasin Town selling their products to farmers. The Kalasin Police and related officials successfully arrested 5 suspects that have been selling the unregistered fertilizers to farmers in the area.

All of the suspects are originally from Roi Et Province. They were delivering large bags of fertilizers in a local village. The group had a truck with speakers attached to the top of the car. The sellers would then drive around villages in Kalasin advertising that their fertilizers are cheap and authentic, fooling the local farmers by selling unregistered fertilizers with unknown ingredients.

The Police carried out a sting operation using 7, 1000 THB bills. Inside the White Isuzu truck were 132 bags of fertilizers with “Penguin Brand” printed on them, 36 bags of organic fertilizers, 14 bottles of Nano Chitosan, receipts, and an accounting book that they used to write down what how much money they made each day.

Villagers in the area had been complaining to the police that there was a group of sellers who drove around a truck filled with fake fertilizers. Many farmers fell victim to the group and had purchased the unregistered fertilizers. The villagers feared that this would affect their crops.

Officers from the Kalasin Department of Agriculture worked with the police and set up a sting operation to buy 15 bags of fertilizers from the sellers. When the time came, they had no distribution license and the fertilizers were all unregulated with no clear source of where it was made and the ingredients inside. All evidence has been seized by the police to be used in the prosecution process. The fertilizers will also be examined by the Kalasin Department of Agriculture to see what’s inside so they could inform the victims of the possible effects from the use of such products.
