Feed pigeons and face maximum 25,000 baht fine
BANGKOK Governor Pol Gen Asawin Kwanmuang today (Sept 20, 2018) issued an urgent order to all 50 districts to get tough on feeding pigeons with one of the 2 laws used to enforce the ban carrying maximum 25,000 baht fine, Thai News Agency reported.
Pol Gen Asawin Kwanmuang told Bangkok district officials to explain to the public the dangers arising from feeding pigeons which carry all types of germs.
Officials were urged to accelerate action in areas about which there have been complaints, and also schools and temples where lots of people usually feed pigeons.
Feeding these birds go against the Act on Maintenance of Cleanliness and Orderliness of the Country, B.E. 2535 (1992), with offenders facing 2,000 baht fine, and the Public Health Act, B.E.2535 (1992), with offenders facing maximum 3 months imprisonment and a fine of not more than 25,000 baht, or both.
