Furniture maker builds 3rd vintage wooden vehicle

ATTRACTING a lot of attention on the roads in lower northern Sukhothai city is a vintage wooden car that a furniture maker built himself and fitted with the engine of a three-wheel motor tricycle, or tuk tuk, Sanook.com reported today (July 16, 2018).

Mr Suthep Thukmaimee, 54, who the locals call Chang Thep, is currently totally engrossed in decorating the ancient vehicle, that has a wooden chassis which himself crafted and the rear being a part of a horse-drawn carriage he bought in northern Lampang province.

He even built the 4 teak-wood wheels and says it runs normally like other vehicles.

This is in fact the 3rd vintage wooden vehicle that this furniture maker with a passion for old cars built. He got the idea to do so after viewing some vintage vehicles at a show in Bangkok 5 years ago, and then  built the first classic wooden car which was fitted with an engine from a motorcycle.

The second one was a vintage Jeep with engine being modified from a pump and linked to parts from a motorcycle.

Someone saw it and ordered this vintage wooden car, which is priced at 250,000 baht.
