Meet the fish that love BBQ chicken

LOCAL and foreign tourists have descended on a pond in the middle of a forest in the southern Thai province of Krabi to feed five eel-like fish that have resided there, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported today (April 3).

Many of them bring along fish food pellets available in the market. Some feed them with barbecue chicken.

Forestry officials do not know how long the fish have been in the forest. About 100 centimeters in length, the female fish lays eggs in the mangrove forest by the sea and swim upstream to the pond, which is their home in the wild.

The Morakot Pond is inside the Khao Pra-Bangkram National Forest Reserve.
