Push to turn Samut Sakhon into regional seafood hub
PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha today (March 5) visited Samut Sakhon province, which is just 48 kilometers from Bangkok, to resolve fishing problems and push it as the regional seafood hub, Thai News Agency and Matichon daily newspaper reported.
Premier Prayut and his team visited Thai Union Group Plc’s factory in Tha Sai district for a briefing on proceeding with turning this province into a regional seafood hub and also met almost 200 factory workers.
General Prayut told the workers that everyone is helping drive this country forward and make it stronger, regardless of whether they were Thais or foreigners.
He asked Myanmar workers what they get paid in their home country, and they told him that the daily wage in Myanmar is over 200 baht compared to 311 baht here.
The Prime Minister also urged the foreign workers to register because it is not difficult to do so and they get a lot of benefits after having done so.
Gen. Prayut added that the government has a lot of problems and is trying to resolve them, but there are hurdles, so he hopes everyone gives encouragement as it continues to sorting them out.
“I don’t know what is going to happen after the election, I urge everyone to go and vote and not ignore your rights. Don’t say ‘we are not linked so we aren’t going doing so’ because this will bring back the past, so those who have never voted should do so.
“Everyone should understand who they should elect. This is our country. Not that go elect God knows who which will only bring the past back.”
A female worker asked to shake his hands, and he did so, while urging everyone to listen to Bird Thongchai McIntyre’s song “Chub Mer Kan Wai” (Hold Hands).
