Seals go into the cave as water level drops

THE week-long rescue operation at the huge cave in northern Chiang Rai province where 12 young soccer players and their coach have been trapped since last Saturday made a big progress today (June 30, 2018) with Thai Seals able to go in after floodwater level dropped, INN News reported.

Thai Seals (Sea, Air and Land Teams) have managed to get to the 3rd hall in the cave but have yet to reach an area within it called Pattaya Beach.

Meanwhile the team checking cavities above the cave also made progress with a rescuer managing to go down 40 meters one of them, from 20 meters reached yesterday.

This team is checking what is below that point.

In another development Chiang Rai Governor Nanongsak Osothanakorn this morning launched a drill on evacuating possibly ailing and injured young soccer players and their coach from Tham Luang-Khun Nam Nang Non cave because while 13 ambulances have been arranged, they are from different units and are not familiar with the route to take them to the hospital.

Once rescued the victims would first be checked at a nearby field hospital before being sent to the hospital in the ambulances, with each manned with a doctor, a nurse and a first aid official.

The governor has also declared this cave a disaster area from the very first day the young soccer players and their coach went missing.
