Taxi brings wife to work and forces passenger to pay 800 THB.

A man has shared his experience online after a taxi driver forced him to pay 800 THB. The driver also had his wife sitting in the front passenger seat. A Facebook user posted on 31 May 2021 about the incident online after a taxi meter did not press the meter in the vehicle then demanded 800 THB as payment. The driver’s wife came to work with him and was sitting in the front seat all along the ride. The victim believes the driver is taking advantage of his passengers. The ride was from Don Mueang, Bangkok to Samut Sakhon Province. Normally with a meter on the ride should cost at most 350 THB.

The victim stated “This is causing good honest workers a hard time; it is because people like this. The meter was not pressed, and he even brought his wife along on the ride. At first, I thought she was going to leave at the airport exit. His first question to me was how much my salary was. He tried to pull my attention away from the meter. My girlfriend asked him how much the ride was and why the meter was not pressed. The driver answered all drivers do this, he thought I came from another province and never traveled to Samut Sakhon before.

I asked him to stop the car and let me leave. He did not let me go and insisted to deliver me. I pretended to call the police, and this is when his wife started yelling at both of us. The couple then started to force me to pay the money. What happened next is captured in the video I posted. Money is so hard to find and yet there are people who do this. Imagine if it were nighttime, it would have been worse. They are a danger to society; they are working together”.  The taxi driver claimed that all drivers don’t press their meters and charge whatever they want to. This is not true, always make sure the meter is used, especially if you are getting the taxi from an airport.
