Transparency call on satellite deal

THE Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand (ACOT) today (August 13, 2018) called on the government to reveal all the details of its planned purchase of foreign-made satellites worth altogether seven billion baht, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.

“The government cannot just say that it is a trade agreement secret that cannot be made public,” ACOT secretary-general Mana Nimitmongkol wrote on his Facebook page.

“The purchase is actually funded by taxpayers,” he added.

The Thai public, therefore, must be fully informed about how these satellites will benefit them.
