Suspect in death of bullied influencer bailed out

A SUSPECT in the death of influencer/rapper who was known to have been often paid to be bullied and died at a party after gulping down two of three 350ml bottles of alcohol for payment of 30,000 baht was released on 200,000 baht bail today (Dec. 29) but has to wear an electronic monitoring (EM) bracelet, TV Channel 7 said.

The suspect, Mr. Ekkachart “M” Meeprom, 32, who is also an influencer, has been charged with inciting Mr. Thanakhan Kanthi, or Bank Lester, 27, who was mentally disabled and had shot to fame for selling garlands to feed his grandmother, to gulp down this large amount of alcohol at party thrown by his mother, Ms. Supranee Phoolkasi, on Christmas evening.

Bank Lester gulped down two of three bottles in succession within 10-20 minutes and then lost consciousness. He was rushed to the hospital but his heart had already stopped beating when he reached and the doctors were unable to save his life.

In granting bail the court said the charge of recklessness is not a serious crime with the suspect having surrendered and confessed.

In addition the suspect had helped Bank Lester’s grandmother who raised him by initially clearing 288,397 baht of her debts with negotiations continuing on more compensation.

Meanwhile famous Thai folk singer Aed Carabao, or Mr. Yuenyong Opakul, has composed a heartfelt song as a tribute to Bank Lester and mourn his death while demanding justice.

In the lyrics he called for a law to prevent people from doing evil things to children with disabilities and the disabled.

The song tells the story of a special child who did everything in exchange for money to take care of his grandmother before falling victim to a heartless person who created ridiculous content that devalued humanity, viewing it as entertainment, until he died.
