A big Covid-19 cluster has been found at a big construction store in Kalasin Province. 129 out of 243 employees have tested positive for the virus. There are also 16 relatives and friends of those employees who have also tested positive for Covid-19. The Covid-19 Centre in Kalasin reported on 28 October 2021 of new cases in the province. There are a total of 143 new cases bringing the total number of cases in the province to 9,116. A total of 8,503 have made a full recovery, 555 are currently receiving medical care, and there are 58 deaths related to the virus.
Most of the latest cases are employees from a big construction store. The store is located near the entrance of Kalasin City. Employees in the store received Covid-19 tests and 129 were confirmed positive. There are also individuals who have come into contact with the cases and have also tested positive for the virus. Most are from the main city of Kalasin and Yang Talad District. A total of 145 cases have been infected from the construction store cluster. The number of persons considered as high risk is very high. Officials are investigating each individual case and believe they will be able to control the spread soon.
Doctor Apichai Limanon from the Kalasin Public Health Office revealed that the Covid-19 situation in Kalasin continues with small and big clusters. The latest cluster found is this construction store cluster with over half of the employees confirmed positive. The cases are now all receiving medical care and those who are considered as high risk are in quarantine. Kalasin officials are asking those who visited the store from 18-25 October 2021 and came in close contact with an employee to keep a close watch on their health. If Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, cough, loss of taste or smell, red eyes, and fatigue start to develop please get tested at the nearest public health office. The store will remain closed until 8 November 2021 for a deep clean.
