The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially declared the 2019 Coronavirus as a Pandemic. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus the WHO Director-General tweeted on 12 March 2020, “@WHO is deeply concerned by the alarming levels of the #coronavirus spread, severity & inaction, & expects to see the number of cases, deaths & affected countries climb even higher. Therefore, we made the assessment that #COVID19 can be characterized as a pandemic”, the same statement was tweeted by the official WHO twitter account.

WHO stated that they have closely monitored the spread of Covid-19, concluding that the virus is spreading at alarming levels. With the heavy spread comes fear from citizens of the world, but WHO reveals, there are countries that have shown frightening levels of inaction even after being notified every day to take urgent and aggressive action. This doesn’t mean that the virus is out of hand, it’s doable, Dr. Tedros stated.

WHO also tweeted that there are 81 countries that have not reported any Covid-19 cases, while 57 countries have reported a small number of cases. All countries must work together aiming towards changing the course of the Coronavirus pandemic. “If countries detect, test, treat, isolate, trace, and mobilize their people in the response, those with a handful of #COVID19 cases can prevent those cases becoming clusters, and those clusters becoming community transmission”, WHO tweeted.

The Covid-19 was classified as a global public health emergency on 30 January 2020, with case numbers rising every day we deeply knew inside that this virus had an extreme likelihood to enter the pandemic level. Amongst the now officially a pandemic virus, WHO confirms that this is controllable with the proper internal action in each country, “Of the 118,000 #COVID19 cases reported globally in 114 countries, more than 90 percent of cases are in just four countries, and two of those – China and South Korea – have significantly declining epidemics”.
