Covid found in Samut Sakhon, Ayutthaya, Samut Prakan, and Nakhon Pathom.

Thailand is shocked after 576 new Covid cases were confirmed within 1 day in the country. The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration reported the latest case on the Covid-19 situation in Thailand. Most of the Covid cases discovered in Samut Sakhon are foreign workers in the seafood market. 546 were confirmed positive out of 1192 tested, rate of infection is 43%. The Covid numbers in Thailand have remained steady for months with 0-2 cases per day. The sudden jump has shocked the people who are now returning to practicing safety measures including mask-wearing and social distancing.

The Samut Prakan Governor has reported 3 new Covid cases. A Thai seafood vendor and 2 of his Lao employees. The vendor has a history of visiting the Mahachai Seafood Market in Samut Sakhon. The 3 cases were confirmed positive on 19 December 2020. The seafood vendor works at the Pak Nam Seafood Market. He went to buy wholesale seafood from Mahachai on 13-14 December. The 2 employees work every day at the store in Pak Nam Market. The vendor has come into contact with 11 people who are now considered high risk. All 11 had negative Covid tests while 22 persons who have also come into contact with the patient are now in quarantine.

Nakhon Pathom has reported 2 new Covid cases also on the 19th. Both cases visited the Mahachai Market. The province will be testing 124 more people who visited the market from 15-19. Those who have a history of visiting Mahachai and areas nearby with symptoms including loss of taste and smell are advised to get tested for Covid-19 at all hospitals in the country.

A 78-year-old woman residing in Prachachuen, Bangkok was confirmed positive on 20 December 2020. The woman and her son visited the Mahachai market from 1-11 December and started having symptoms on the 12th. There are 18 high-risk individuals who have come into contact with this case of which 13 are customers and 5 are family members. There is 1 new Covid case in Ayutthaya Province. This is a 29-year-old woman who returned from Chiang Mai Province. She has no symptoms and has 10 high-risk individuals who have come into contact with the patient.
