A daughter drove her 80-year-old father infected with Covid-19 and left him at a temple putting all the monks inside at risk. The woman drove across provinces to leave her father who is now in critical condition. A medical personal from the Bua Yai Hospital posted a picture with the caption “Drove her car to throw away her father infected with Covid-19 at the temple. The monk is not strong. You have a heart but what is it made of, you devil. Sorry for being mean but I can’t take this, hurting monks”. The Sanook News Team visited Suan Thamma Sawadee Temple in Nakhon Ratchasima Province and met with Monk Sittichai on 27 July 2021.
The monk stated the other day a woman and her husband came to the temple. They told the monk he met her father while the monk was in Khon Kaen Province. They then stated the father wanted to stay with the monk before she quickly pulled her father and a bag of clothes out of the car. The woman then said “Look after him monk” and drove away. Thongsuk Taptam the Village Chief of Nong Wang received notification that someone from a different province had traveled into the area. The Village Chief went to the temple and received news that the daughter went to pick up the father from Lopburi Province before driving across provinces to the temple. She then left him in the temple. Health officials were notified and locals received orders to avoid contact with the man.
The man had crawled out from the temple and was sleeping in the rain by the road. They couldn’t leave him alone as it was certain he was going to die. The local rescue team and hospital officials gave the man a Covid-19 test that came back positive. They then delivered him to a hospital in Khon Kaen Province. The monks at the temple and the rescue team members will now have to quarantine for 14 days. The Village Chief wishes to send a message to relatives of Covid-19 patients asking them to not abandon the patients in hospitals. Such acts will only spread the virus and bring trouble to locals in the area.
