Suan Dusit Poll by the Suan Dusit Rajabhat University published a poll that was conducted from 28 June to 1 July 2021. The poll reveals the people are not happy with how the government is dealing with the current Covid-19 situation. A total of 1,744 joined in the survey with the topic of “How can Thai’s win against Covid-19”. When asked how Covid-19 has affected Thailand, 91.95% of people stated it has destroyed the economy, resulted in unemployment, and caused great difficulty in surviving. 85.86% stated that the new variant has caused a spike in new cases and deaths. 81.78% stated it has caused stressed with fear of not getting medical care if they were infected.
When asked how Thailand can step forward to win against the virus, 87.25% stated there should be high quality vaccines available for the people and the private sector should have a part in this. 80.16% stated they wanted support teams for the Thai medical personal along with the necessary equipment. 79.53% stated it is necessary to stop the spread of the virus by controlling high spread areas. When asked what sector should be responsible to manage the Covid-19 situation, 67.04% stated the Department of Disease Control, 65.17% stated the Ministry of Health, and 49.88% stated the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).
When asked what the people want to see from politicians during the Covid-19 situation, 86.84% stated they expect to see hard work where the focus is on the people. 82.39% stated they want to see politicians give up their salary so that the money can help more people. 81.94% stated they hoped the government and the opposition could work together with the same goal. When asked how the government is managing the Covid-19 situation, 66.05% stated they are not doing it right, 20.36% stated they were not sure, and 13.59% stated the government is managing the situation well.
