Scorpion on Langsat fruit sends man to the Hospital.

This story was shared by Facebook User Pennung Chaiyachit after he was sent to the hospital under unusual circumstances. This story was posted with the intention to warn Langsat fruit lovers to be careful when consuming the fruit, always make sure there is nothing unusual crawling on the fruit and to wash before peeling if possible.

Pennung stated in the post “I have something to warn you….?? Last night after dinner I went to eat some fruit that I had just purchased on the same day. This was 2 kilograms of Langsat fruit. I put my left hand into the plastic bag to grab a langsat when suddenly it felt like I had just cut my thumb with a sharp knife. I screamed “What bit me, that hurt” before running to the toilet. I washed my thumb and poured some alcohol on it.”

Pennung’s pain started getting worse to a level where his thumb was constantly throbbing with excruciating pain. He decided to take a trip to the hospital as the pain got worse. While he was driving to the hospital his pain increased. There was no open wound, and there was not a single drop of blood. This was strange to Pennung as the pain made him believe his thumb should be bleeding.

When he arrived at the hospital and was waiting for the doctor Pennung decided to google something. “Bugs and langsat fruit”, the first page of search results showed many different websites warning about a tiny scorpion that lives on the langsat.  This particular scorpion has venom that is 20 times more vicious than the Giant Forest Scorpion. The doctor informed him that it would be best if he stayed the night at the hospital.

They gave him antibiotics, antiseptics, and pain medications through the IV. His blood pressure was over 170 and he was sweating heavily. Luckily Pennung was a strong and healthy man, it could have been worse for children and the elderly. Pennung ends his post stating “Please be careful my friends, this tiny scorpion is evil. Wash langsat fruit in a basket before you eat it”.
